Bread Loaf Program
A Plan to Feed a Hungry World
In 1984 Dick Coolidge was inspired with a simple plan to help feed those in need. It is called the Bread Loaf Program because we used to bake bread shaped banks to remind us to give daily and to encourage others to join with us. The plan is that every person in a church body would put aside 25 cents a day. Once a month the money is brought in and the total amount is sent to the mission field. Our church gives the money to the Southern Baptist Association, but each church could send it where their body decides. It is amazing how things build when each person's small amount is added together. All of the money we give at the Chapel goes to feed people. There are no administrative or other costs.
Twenty five years later we still have a special hunger offering on the first Sunday of the month and over time have given well over $100,000. We say this not to brag, but to show how we can work together to do more than a single person can do. Our Vacation Bible School offering goes into this fund and the children really get into helping others and realizing how blessed we are.
We believe our Heavenly Father has given us enough that no child should have to go to bed hungry. Just imagine what could be done to serve the hungry is His precious name if more individuals and church bodies joined in this simple program. We are blessed as we give to others.
Would you consider joining us in this special offering?
